Content
This 'Kunstige Plaat, naauwkeurig afgeteekend' (Artful plate, precisely drawn) is derived from "De maandelykse Nederlandsche Mercurius" of August 1777 and shows the draw of the Generaliteits lottery which took place on 25 August 1777 in the 'Great Hall of the Court' (the Hall of Knights) in The Hague. We can see how on the platform the result of the national lottery was determined with the aid of a sort of wheel of fortune. To the left and right are the bookstalls which were let to booksellers from The Hague.
