Content
 For reading lessons around 1875, the orthographical method which had already been falling into disuse, was definitively replaced throughout the Netherlands by the phonetic method. The `aap-noot-mies' method, invented by M.B. Hoogeveen (1862-1941) was to remain popular well into the 20th century.
