Content
In 1719 Daniel Defoe published his famous book entitled "The Life and strange and surprising Adventures of Robinson Crusoe", based on the experiences of a certain Alexander Selkirk, who went to sea in 1704 and was found five years later on an uninhabited island. The book is considered to be the first novel in English and was successful all over the world. Here are a number of 19th-century Dutch adaptations for children in cheap cardboard and paper bindings.
