Content
The publishing policy of printers in 's-Hertogenbosch was directed in the first place to a market within the town and the surrounding area. In the last three decades of the 16th century in particular, mainly occassional works of local interest were printed, such as this history. In the large towns nearby, Antwerp and Colognee, the book trade was more developed, books could be printed in larger print-runs, for lower prices and better illustrated than was possible in 's-Hertogenbosch. The small print shops in this towm could not offer enough competition and therefore focussed on the production of local printed matter.
