Content
 Throughout the whole of the 18th century people were searching for methods of making paper from cheap raw material. This is the Dutch version of Jacob Schäffers's book on experiments with various plants as raw material for paper making instead of the more expensive rags. It contains paper samples made of, among other things, poplar wool, `wasp's nests', sawdust, beech wood, willow wood, moss from trees, reed mace, hop and vine tendrils.
