Content
Behind this window the oldest preserved library building of the Netherlands can be found: the `librije (library) of Zutphen, housed in an annexe against the choir of the St. Walburgis church. Its construction was started in 1561 and the library was completed in 1564. The new room was destined for the already existing chapter library of the canons of this church; before that, their library was in a room above the chapter room of the building complex.
