 This auction catalogue from 1599 of part of the books of Philips van Marnix van Sint Aldegonde (1540-1598) is the earliest known printed auction catalogue in the world. Marnix van Sint-Aldegonde collected in the first place books which he needed for his study, his work and his interests: theology, history, philosophy, medicine, mathematics and (Latin) poetry.
