Content
 This plate shows the drawing which is the example for the engraver's work (fig. 1), a print of the engraved plate in the initial phase, the 'aqua fortis' print (2) and a print in the finished phase (3). There is also a landscape with vegetation engraved in various phases in the background (4), while figs. 5-7 show the different states of the head of a 'Virgin Mary'. Around them are all kinds of instruments: a paper screen to put against the window where one is working (8), square (9), ruler (10), etching needles (11), a coarser kind of etching needles or 'schupjes' (12-13), brush (4), T-square (15) and a pair of compasses (16)
