Content
Example of a dashing early 19th-century title page fully making use of the great variety of type that type founders and printers could offer their clients. The book was produced by two publishers: Frans Buffa in Amsterdam and Engelmann and Co. in Paris. It must have been an expensive edition: the lithographs were made by one of the best French lithographers of that moment. Besides for the spreading of costs, the enlarging of the market must have been an important reason for this kind of collaboration.
