 The Van Holkema and Warendorf publishing company in Amsterdam focused on those books that were cheap and could be printed in large numbers. The bookseller was usually obliged to take complete series. They were highly popular with the general public. The books by the popular writer Justus van Maurik, for example, were published in both more expensive and in cheaper editions.
